Noah Centineo admitted that he had to join a gym to get buff for his recent Calvin Klein underwear ad campaign, but he appears to have been hitting the weights even more in order to star in ‘Masters of the Universe’ as the uber-stacked barbarian He-Man.  He walked the red carpet at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, but he dressed down for the event, wearing just a black tee-shirt and jeans… apparently because he can’t fit into his old clothes anymore.

This marks Centineo’s first major Hollywood studio film, and he stopped to talk to MTV News to discuss the differences between making a film of this magnitude versus the indies he’s made up ’til now, as well as the responsibility of playing an iconic pop culture figure.  Check out the video below:

MTV also posted some still photos of Centineo, which may give you a better idea of what to expect.  You can find those here.

As Centineo said:

“It’s a really big responsibility.  [I’m] like first one in, last one out every single day, which I’ve done before, but I’ve never done it on a studio level. Which, studio level is the same as indie, but like, they got playback… It’s a big opportunity and I feel more than ready to tackle it.

“It’s a new universe and it’s a new studio and their take on a universe.  The Nee brothers, Adam and Aaron Nee, they’re directing it, and they’re the filmmakers in charge of the story, and they are doing one hell of a job developing the world and all these things, so. I can’t tell you what tone they’re going for, but they’re genius, so.”

Centineo was nominated for Breakthrough Performance, and Best Kiss with Lana Condor for the Netflix romantic comedy ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’, a movie so successful that Centineo just wrapped filming a sequel.  He will also be seen this fall in ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and in the Jackie Chan-directed period film ‘The Diary’.

‘Masters of the Universe’ is due in theaters on March 5, 2021.  Does Centineo look jacked enough to play He-Man?
