Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Stolen Pictures has found its next project, ‘Svalta’, a horror movie, which Pegg will co-write with ‘Sick Note’s James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders.  And it doesn’t appear that it will be a comedy!  Miles Ketley runs Stolen Pictures with Pegg and Frost, and the film has been picked up by Orion Pictures.  Pegg, Frost, and Ketley will produce with Dan Kagan overseeing for Orion.

Orion President John Hegeman issued a statement, saying:

“We are unbelievably excited to be partnering with Simon, Nick, and Miles on ‘Svalta’.  The story is scary, awesome and crazy, and their unique voice is perfect for this movie. We can’t wait to bring this to the big screen with them.”

Ketley added:

“Orion is the perfect home for the horrifying vision that Nick has conjured up from his maverick brain.  We always said that everything we do has to come from left-field and find something unexpected at its center and with this partnership with John and Dan and their amazing team, ‘Svalta’ is the perfect project to do that.”

‘Svelta’ is about a family that takes a vacation to a remote Swedish island, where they discover a serial killer is on the loose.  But “the locals have no interest in helping the family of tourists.”

Stolen Pictures’ last film ‘Slaughterhouse Rulez’ was a comedy-horror, in which Pegg and Frost co-starred in supporting roles.  Margot Robbie, Michael Sheen, and Asa Butterfield also starred.

Stolen Pictures is also turning the magical book series ‘Rivers of London’ into a TV series.

Does this mean that Pegg and Frost will appear in ‘Svelta’?  Fans can hope.  But this doesn’t sound like a comedic film at all.  But Hegeman did mention “their unique voice,” so maybe it will also be like ‘Slaughterhouse Rulez’ (and ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’, and ‘The World’s End’) and merge two genres.

Check back for updates as they arrive.  Are you excited to see another Frost/Pegg collaboration?
