We’ve already seen Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville) come a long way on ‘Jessica Jones‘ but the third and final season will deliver his most significant transformation yet! When Malcolm was first introduced to audiences, we saw him as a drug addict who was given a chance by Jessica. He was able to not only overcome his addiction but really rise to be a full-fledged private investigator that could rival her in talent.
The character, who was always one of the most supportive of Jones, was also one of the first to finally close the door on her as she continued to mess up her own life and those around her. The second season ended with Darville’s character now working for Jeri Hogarth, played by Carrie-Ann Moss.
As to how Malcolm’s broken relationship with Jessica will move his story in the final season, Darville reveals:
“I mean in a huge way. Where we find it in season three, he’s a full-time investigator with Jeri Hogarth and her new firm and goes after some very morally and ethically questionable things. He was kind of getting walked all over at so many different points, and for him, it’s really kind of drawing a line in the sand around self-respect and what he’s willing to do in order to get respect. Whether it’s from Jessica or Jeri or from his new girlfriend or from the world at large. It’s very fun to play, it’s very different again from anywhere that we’ve been with Malcolm and yeah, I’m grateful for the whole experience.”
It is entertaining to think of Hogarth as someone who would give him any respect, but if he insisted on it and earned the respect as well, we might just see her giving him praise. This action might be the only thing needed to retain Malcolm’s loyalty instead of seeing him head back to working with Jessica Jones.
