Westworld

It’s nearly time to head back to the park. After a yearlong hiatus, ‘Westworld’ is finally preparing to return for its second season. The series made quite the splash when it premiered on HBO back in 2016, and to say it left fans with a lot to look forward to would be putting it mildly. But as taxing as the wait has been, there is some comfort in knowing that the team behind the show was given the time they needed to craft a worthy follow up to such a strong freshman season.

But there’s more waiting than just resolutions to last season’s myriad cliffhangers. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, series star James Marsden offered some hints of what’s to come:

“You will not be disappointed. The world that we created will be completely expanded upon, and the themes and the philosophies will all be taken to the next degree. The one thing I can say is that it just feels so much bigger this year. There’s a bigger cast, we’re shooting sometimes three units at once, whereas the first season it was always just one unit, so the scope of the whole thing has definitely grown.”

Marsden also addressed the remarkable degree of secrecy in which the acclaimed sci-fi/drama’s second season has thus far been shrouded:

“The more that’s kept a secret, the more reward the audience is going to have when they watch it. The best way to watch this show is to let it come to you, and that’s the most rewarding experience and the most rewarding way to watch it. Let it unfold in its own time. But the fans  will be very pleased.”

‘Westworld’ stars Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, and Jimmi Simpson. The series is scheduled to begin its second season this spring, though HBO has yet to announce and official premiere date.
