For love and justice! ‘Sailor Moon,’ one of the more popular anime mainstays, has a new musical set to debut in 2020!
Twitter User MoonKittyNet announced that the new ‘Sailor Moon’ Musical will be dropping next year, and will follow the “Princess Kaguya arc from the manga and 90s ‘Sailor Moon S’ movie.”

This is hardly the first time the Sailor Scouts have showed off their vocal chops, with the first musical debuting in 1993. The Sera Myu series is extremely popular, consisting of 29 musicals which have seen more than 898 performances.
The story arc for the new musical, the Princess Kaguya arc, introduces the villain Kaguya as she and her minions attempt to cover the world in ice. The Sailor Scouts assemble to attempt to defeat her. Serena’s cat/mentor Luna, falls in love with an astronomer in the process and struggles with her desire to become human. The Scouts fail to defeat Kaguya until they manage to combine all of their powers in the “Imperium Silver Crystal”.
The ‘Sailor Moon’ series was originally created by Naoko Takeuchi for Nakayoshi magazine in 1991. For more than 20 years, the series has been one of the most influential shojo series ever created and popularized the magical girl sub-genre with fans all over the world.
