We’ve been hearing about the final table read for the last season of ‘Game of Thrones‘ for quite some time now, and the trailer for ‘The Last Watch’ shows a small bit of it! For those who are unfamiliar with ‘The Last Watch,’ it is the official documentary which HBO commissioned from director Jeanie Finlay (‘Seahorse,’ ‘Orion: The Man Who Would Be King’) to give fans “a farewell to Westeros with the people who built the realm.” It is a 2-hour look into how the final season was made which is set to debut the week after the series finale.

The creators behind ‘Game of Thrones’ have been giving insights on their motives and how each episode was created at the end of each show but this will really be giving us a more extensive peek into how the final season was created than anything we’ve seen or read so far.

The table read doesn’t just have Kit Harington shedding some tears but also a tease of Emilia Clarke’s final appearance as Daenerys on the show.

The documentary “delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland … Much more than a ‘making of’ documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.”

Love or hate the last season, are you planning on checking out ‘The Last Watch’? Do you feel that this documentary will share what you felt was a mistake or triumph in storytelling? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

The Last Watch, a two-hour documentary, premieres May 26 on HBO.
