The First Trailer For ABC's 'Emergence' Emerges Online

‘Emergence’ is a new mystery drama ABC has developed which appears to have either supernatural or alien ties around a mysterious accident. The show was written and executive produced by both Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Paul McGuigan also serves as an executive producer and directed the pilot. It hasn’t been announced yet if McGuigan will also be directing further episodes or if it will rotate through a series of directors as many shows are doing these days.

The series stars Allison Tolman as Jo, Alexa Swinton as Piper, Owain Yeoman as Benny, Ashley Aufderheide as Bree, Robert Bailey Jr. as Officer Chris, Zabryna Guevara as Abby with Donald Faison as Alex and Clancy Brown as Ed.

The ‘Emergence’ synopsis describes the series as:

A character-driven genre thriller, “Emergence” is about a police chief who takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.

This plot is a theme which we’ve seen cross quite a few shows over the years but is a mystery that appears to have supernatural or science fiction origins that will likely be a slow burn to find out what happens.

It certainly looks like it could be interesting but ABC always seems to be hit or miss when it strays too far outside of its ordinary dramas, even if Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ continually proves that there is a want for more genre shows.
