Legion

FX has announced that the third and final season of ‘Legion’ will premiere on June 24.  Unlike many shows, ‘Legion’ wasn’t canceled by the network, but rather creator Noah Hawley who felt that this batch of episodes successfully completed the story he set out to tell.  Dan Stevens stars as the mentally unstable mutant David Haller, a character borrowed from Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ line of comics.  ‘Legion’ also stars Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Jemaine Clement, Bill Irwin, and Amber Midthunder.

The LSD-flavored series– described by some as “the weirdest show on TV”– began with David as a patient in a mental hospital, where he learned that he was being manipulated by the evil entity Shadow King, Amahl Farouk (Navid Negahban).  Season 2 ended with a bombshell revelation that flipped the entire series on its head.  There’s no telling where ‘Legion’ will go from here!

Even though ‘Legion’ is based on the ‘X-Men’ comics, its connection to the films and other TV shows, like FOX’s ‘The Gifted’ is practically nonexistent.  The character Charles Xavier is set to appear but will be played by Harry Lloyd, not Patrick Stewart or even James McAvoy.

In the third season, David’s supporting cast will find their allegiance tested as his incredible mutant powers have reached their peak.

David Haller is a troubled young man who was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child. Shuffled from one psychiatric institution to the next, in his early 30s, David met and fell in love with a beautiful and troubled fellow patient named Syd. After a startling encounter with her, he was forced to confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees may actually be real. Syd led David to Melanie Bird, a demanding but nurturing therapist who heads a team of specialists — Ptonomy, Kerry, and Cary — each of whom possesses a unique and extraordinary gift. Together, they helped David to recognize and harness his hidden abilities and unlock a deeply suppressed truth — he had been haunted his entire life by a malicious parasite of unimaginable power.

‘Legion’ Season 3 will air on FX on Mondays, 10 p.m. ET/PT.
