After being turned to dust in ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ and somehow being brought back to life in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ all Peter Parker wants to do is take a vacation and we know he doesn’t get to have one in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home.’ In fact, he’ll be tapped by Nick Fury to deal with a new threat and with Mysterio being featured so prominently in the teasers you would think that as a classic Spidey villain he’ll be the big bad here as well.

That isn’t the case according to director Jon Watts:

“Fury also connects Peter with a new ally: Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio, a powerful magician, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. “If Tony Stark was sort of the mentor in the previous films, we thought it would be interesting to play Mysterio as almost like the cool uncle.”

Spider-Men and uncle relationships always end up well with Ben’s death having motivated Peter in the first place, and we all know how Miles Morales Uncle Aaron Davis ended up in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ as well as in the Ultimate comics.

With that in mind, I’m still convinced that we’ll see him either be the villain or become a villain by the time that the end credits roll.
