Is Doc Ock Going To Be The Main Villain In The "Spider-Verse" Franchise Moving Forward?

In ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse‘ we not only got a new cinematic take on Spidey with Miles Morales but new versions of the Green Goblin and Kingpin. However, one of the most drastic changes came in Dock Ock as instead of the loner scientist or even the Superior Doc Ock who inhabited Peter Parker’s body, we ended up with Olivia Octavius or Liv for short.

Liv is not only brilliant but a well-regarded scientist as the head scientist and CEO of Alchemax who happens to work for Wilson Fisk. However, it doesn’t look as she’ll be playing second fiddle on the legal front for long as co-director Rodney Rothman may have just revealed that she’ll be the central villain of the franchise moving forward.

According to Rothman:

“In the end, we found the movie played fine without us tagging every single possible thing. But we definitely think of Liv as someone who is not gone from the story, and who in many ways, is our most powerful bad guy. She’s manipulating a lot of things to achieve her own grand ambitions.”

It isn’t clear what her ambitions are quite yet, but we know that they have to do with the multiverse and some kind of transporter will have to come back into play to have our heroes teaming up across universes in future sequels.

We’re not even sure when we’ll see any sequels at this time but we’ve heard that multiple outings are in development and Olivia might just be the glue that holds many of them together, or at leaser a future creation of hers could be.

Are you thrilled to see that we’ll see more of Olivia Octavius in future “Spider-Verse” movies? Do you feel that she’ll be the main antagonist that draws the Spider-people together or will her inventions just be the catalyst that enables future team-ups?
