Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Sony

It should come to no surprise to anyone that Sony is planning to expand the world of the Academy Award-winning ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘ and if anything it is a surprise that there aren’t already 20-films in the works. With the studio who has failed to bring us a solid live-action Spidey film for years, it seems that this animated hit has ignited their passion for The Wallcrawler in a new animated direction.

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have always stated that they wanted to use the movie to craft an entire set of spider-worlds to play in and with the success that the film has drawn they might just be getting their wish.

The movie has earned 362.8 million dollars at the box office globally so far and is still in some theaters. With a budget that was reported at $90 million, this has been a hit for Sony financially and critically. It is no wonder that they’d be wanting to expand upon what Lord and Miller had built.

At this time the studio has two films in development for the franchise which is the direct sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ as well as an all-female spinoff. That being said, a new report says that Sony is exploring the potential of other spinoffs as well which would likely include the other Spider-characters which we’ve been introduced to so far.

For those who stayed to the very end and watched the post-credit scene from ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ it is quite obvious as to how we can see future crossovers work even with Fisk’s collider having been destroyed.

Are you looking forward to more ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ movies to go into development? Are there any specific iterations of Spider-Man that you’d like to see get their own movie? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
