New Rumors Have 'Doctor Strange 2' Replacing 'Eternals' In MCU Release Schedule

While the MCU future release schedule has been purposefully kept completely under wraps until after audiences have seen what happens in ‘Avengers: End Game,’ a new rumor has come out suggesting that it will not actually be ‘Black Widow‘ and ‘Eternals’ to fill the 2020 release slots we have heard so much about, but rather ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Doctor Strange 2,’ with the good doctor taking the November 6th, 2020 date.

With all of the ‘Eternals’ talk of late, and talk about the MCU going more cosmic, not to mention the potential casting news with Angelina Jolie rumored to take a major role in the film, it is hard to image the movie being pushed back for a ‘Strange’ sequel, but it all depends on what the overall plan for the next phase of the MCU is, and where both the ‘Eternals’ and Doctor Strange fit into everything. Plus, after his amazing feats in ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ there is most likely an audience desire to see more of  Marvel’s Wizard and see what else he can do (and how it will all look on the big screen), because his fight with Thanos, in particular, was very cool looking, and Marvel is pretty good at reading what audiences are excited to see.

While talking about villains and other characters for the sequel that Strange could be pitted against, ‘Doctor Strange’ director Scott Derrickson (who is more or less confirmed to be coming back for the sequel) commented:

“Possibly Nightmare, but he’s a tricky villain to get right. And you can’t tell the story of Doctor Strange without eventually dealing with Clea….“Kevin [Feige] made a very cogent case. The trouble with starting with Nightmare is getting across the idea of the Dream Dimension as another dimension. The movie was challenging enough. It’s already an exposition-heavy movie… Dormammu made the most sense. And he is the most present villain in the comics.”

What are your thoughts on ‘Doctor Strange 2’ coming out before ‘Eternals?’ Does it even matter to you right now, or are you just busy awaiting ‘Avengers: End Game’ and anything past that can wait? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
