Chelsea T. Zhang of Disney Channel’s ‘Andi Mack’ has been cast to play Rose Wilson, the daughter of Deathstroke the Terminator, on DC Universe’s ‘Titans’. Esai Morales will portray Deathstroke. Earlier this week, it was announced that “deaf, Genderqueer, Chinese, and Jewish” Youtube and Instagram personality Chella Man had been cast as Deathstroke’s son Joseph, a.k.a Jericho. In the original comics, Rose was Slade Wilson/Deathstroke’s daughter from an extramarital affair, which would make her and Joe half-siblings. But that backstory has been altered at times, so it remains to be seen how ‘Titans’ will handle them. Joe’s mother and Slade’s wife, Adeline is also expected to appear.
In the comics, Rose, also known as The Ravager, has been both a member of the Titans and their enemy. During a period of instability, she actually stabbed herself in the eye to be more like her father. Here is the show’s description for the character:
“Daughter of the deadly assassin, Deathstroke, Rose Wilson was forced to undergo the same procedure that granted her father nearly superhuman abilities, becoming a weapon known as Ravager. Ever resentful, she seeks out the Titans not only for their protection but to get back at her father. Knowing how dangerous it is to be the offspring of their deadliest foe, the Titans take her in but that doesn’t necessarily mean they trust her.”
Before it was officially announced that Rose Wilson would be the character used on ‘Titans’, a casting description for “Eva” surfaced, indicating that she had “been chewed up and spit out by life and had to learn from a young age how to survive on her own” and “she knows how to get what she wants and lets nothing stand in her way. Even if it means killing someone to get it.”
Summer Glau portrayed Isabel Rochev on ‘Arrow’, an ally of that show’s version of Deathstroke, who also donned the identity of Ravager. But despite the costume and name, this was a separate character.
Zhang has a recurring role as Brittany on ‘Andi Mack’ and will have a part in Netflix’s upcoming zombie apocalypse comedy ‘Daybreak’. She previously appeared in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’, ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’, ‘The Perfect Mother’, and ‘Relish’.
‘Titans’ was the premier series from DC Universe, and the first season began in January. It is currently on hiatus, but with so much casting news flying, it’s likely to go back into production for its second season soon.
