Supergirl Kelly Olsen Azie Tesfai

‘Supergirl’ fans, hopefully you were impressed by Azie Tesfai‘s debut as Kelly Olsen, James’ sister, on the latest episode, because it has been confirmed that Tesfai will return next season (the fifth) as a series regular.  While James started out as a potential love interest for Kara, they worked out better as friends.  But it looks as though there may still be a Danvers-Olsen romance in the cards.

Here is the description for Kelly’s character:

Kelly is an intelligent and insightful woman who spent time in the military in order to pay for medical school. She’s recently discharged from the military and is currently finishing her training as a psychiatrist. She’s got a large heart and cares deeply about others.

Tesfai previously has a recurring role on another CW series, as Nadine Hansan on ‘Jane the Virgin’.  She can currently be seen on Netflix’s ‘The Kominsky Method’.  She had a small role on the Playstation Network’s adaptation of the dark superhero comic ‘Powers’.  Other TV credits include the telenovela ‘Wicked, Wicked Game’, ‘Silicon Valley’, ‘Superstore’, ‘The Real O’Neals’, and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’.

Speaking of long-lost siblings, Kelly’s premiere came in the episode “O Brother, Where Art Though?,” which also introduced Lena’s brother, and Superman’s archenemy, Lex Luthor, played by Jon Cryer.

Secretly furloughed from prison due to failing health, Lex Luthor visits his sister, Lena, to seek her help finding a cure.  Savvy as ever, Lena is suspicious of Lex’s motives, but when she’s faced with a life and death situation, she must decide how she truly feels about her brother.

Cryer previously appeared in the 1987 film ‘Superman IV: The Quest for Peace’ playing Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor’s nephew Lenny.  In homage to that role, it has been revealed that the last episode of this season will be entitled “The Quest for Peace.”
