Has Black Panther Just Been Accidentally Confirmed as a Phase 3 Marvel Movie?

Is Black Panther one of the key characters that has been put forward for the Phase 3 push? While no one has said over at Marvel, according to IGN, it looks like someone who tends to be an executive producer for all Marvel films may have just confirmed it at Wizard World Comic Con in New York City. Who was this special someone? How about Stan THE MAN Lee?

Now my only concern on this is that it isn’t the first time that Stan Lee has announced a Black Panther film. While his comments at the time on Dr. Strange have proven true, it was initially denied that either of these were the confirmed Phase 3 films. Has Marvel just been trying to keep Stan’s super early announcement a secret all this time?

Here’s what he recently had to say on the matter:

The people at Marvel are spending hours trying to think ‘What’ll we do next?’ And there’s a damn good chance that they will think just what you mentioned because it would be a great idea, and little by little, everything you want to see will come along because they’re just like you. They’re fans of the stories and are trying to think, ‘What will the fans like to see next? What would we like to see next?’ So they’re working on Ant-Man, working on Doctor Strange; they’re working on Guardians of the Galaxy; they’re working on God knows what. Did I say the Black Panther also? They’re the ones I know about.

While all of the other films mentioned (‘Ant-Man‘ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ specifically) we know are in the works, this is the closest to a confirmation on ‘Black Panther’ that we’ve seen so far. Unfortunately, Stan doesn’t have all of the real inside information on what Marvel is doing these days as he’s not directly working with the entire movie process.

Is this wishful thinking on his part or has he heard something that the rest of us haven’t? What do you think ladies and gentlemen? Are we finally going to see the hero from Wakanda enter the fold to investigate what The Avengers mean as a threat to his nation and eventually becoming one? Or are we just grasping at straws from an offhand comment?
