DC Universe is about to roll out its second original live-action series based on the library of DC Comics characters, ‘Doom Patrol’. This team made their debut in the fourth episode of ‘Titans’ and proved to be a hit with fans. Now they’re getting their own showcase. The series stars Matt Bomer (Larry Trainor/Negative Man), April Bowlby (Rita Farr/Elasti-Woman), and Brendan Fraser (Cliff Steele/Robotman), reprising their roles from ‘Titans’, plus Timothy Dalton (Niles Caulder/The Cheif) replacing Bruno Bichir, Joivan Wade (Victor Stone/Cyborg), and Diane Guerrero (Crazy Jane), with Alan Tudyk as the villain Mr. Negative.
Prior to the release of the first episode, DC Universe has unveiled a new poster uniting the heroic cast. Last week DC Universe released six individual posters which captured each hero’s unique personality. Now here they are together.
In any form, the Doom Patrol is always depicted as a collection of misfits and as a chosen family. For an undetermined time, Ryan Potter’s Gar Logan/Beast Boy was like the group’s younger brother, but it was their love for him that allowed Robotman, Negative Man and Elasti-Woman to let him go off with the Titans to have a life outside of The Cheif’s posh, but isolated mansion.
In the series premiere episode, the team – tired of being stuck in Doom Manor – decides to visit the local town while The Chief is away. However, this seemingly harmless field trip leads to some grave consequences, including an encounter with the mysterious and powerful Mr. Nobody (series star ALAN TUDYK).
Following Mr. Nobody’s capture of Niles Caulder and the destruction of Cloverton Ohio, The Doom Patrol investigate the mysterious albino donkey and discover it is a door to another universe, one where Mr. Nobody is in control. Cyborg aka Vic Stone (series star JOIVAN WADE), a part man/part machine hero from Detroit who has his own complicated relationship with Niles Caulder, joins the search.
‘Doom Patrol’ will be available beginning next Friday, February 15, exclusively on DC Universe.
