deadpool 2

That teaser trailer you just watched yesterday?  Turns out that despite it featuring Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool, it isn’t actually for ‘Deadpool 2’.  Well, it is for the sequel to 2016’s ‘Deadpool’, but as it turns out, 20th Century Fox won’t simply be calling this follow-up ‘Deadpool 2’.

Unfortunately, despite the film being officially wrapped and due for release on June 1st, 2018, it doesn’t have a title yet.  According to Fox:

“This film is not yet titled so we are temporarily referring to it as Untitled Deadpool Sequel.”

That’s a mouthful.  But I suppose ‘Deadpool 2’ is rather lackluster and too conventional for such an unconventional antihero.  As long as they don’t go with ‘Deadpool V Cable: Dawn of X-Force’, things should be fine.  Some promotional material has already been released without a title.  Prior to the release of the first ‘Deadpool’, however, Fox unleashed a tidal wave of promotional material including several videos featuring Reynolds.  It’s hard to do that when you don’t have a title to slap on such materials.  But it should just be a matter of time before Fox and the filmmakers announce the official name of this movie.

David Leitch directed Untitled Deadpool Sequel, with a script by Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Drew Goddard.  Of course, Reynolds returns as Deadpool/Wade Wilson, along with Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrandt as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Karan Soni as Dopinder, plus Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus.  New additions include Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy.

Here is the film’s synopsis:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Untitled Deadpool Sequel is one of three ‘X-Men’ movies that Fox is releasing next year.  The other two are ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’, the sequel to ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and the horror-themed ‘New Mutants’.

Untitled Deadpool Sequel arrives on June 1st, 2018.
