New Photo Shows The Shazam! Family Kids

Thanks to ‘Aquaman’, it appears Warner Brothers’ DC Universe movies are back on track, and more importantly, fans are receptive to a lighter side of superheroics.  (As if the Marvel movies hadn’t already proved that to the billionth degree.)  That may make it easier for this spring’s ‘Shazam!’, directed by David F. Sandberg, and centering on a teenage boy, Billy Batson (Asher Angel) who gains the power to turn into a mighty adult superhero.  But he may not be the only kid with this gift.  Following the storyline of the New 52 comics, it looks as though his foster siblings will also gain similar abilities, complete with adult doppelgangers.

A new photo has emerged, showing the youthful “Shazam Family” including Angel, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromwell, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddie Freeman.  Check it out below:

Though it may just be a mid- or post-credits scene, it sounds as though each kid will receive their superpowers, as certain adults have been cast in mystery roles, although they bear a distinct resemblance to the child actors.  If this turns out to be true, expect to see Meagan Good as Darla’s adult counterpart, D.J. Cotrona as Pedro’s, Ross Butler as Eugene’s and Adam Brody as Freddie’s.  Michelle Borth MAY be playing Mary’s alter ego, but Fulton is older than the other kids, as is, so guess we’ll have to see if another actor is needed to replace her.

Of course, Zachary Levi portrays Shazam, Billy’s adult counterpart.  Mark Strong appears as the film’s villain, Doctor Thaddeus Sivana, while Ron Cephas Jones portrays the Wizard who bestows Billy (and maybe the others) with superpowers.  Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans star as Victor and Rosa Vasquez, the kids’ foster parents.

The next installment of DC’s shared universe strikes theaters on April 5, 2019.
