Shortly after Freeform trolled fans of ‘Shadowhunters about their attempts to bring the series back, the network has revealed our first look at the second half of the third season. Our first look has Isaiah Mustafa’s Luke and Dominic Sherwood’s Jace still searching for Katherine McNamara’s Clary in this shot. It isn’t clear what happened to Clary or Will Tudor’s Jonathan, and that seems to be the focus for when the show returns.
Co-showrunner Todd Slavkin shares that “They refuse to believe that Clary is gone forever. As a father figure, Luke is really driving that search.” He also shares that they will find Clary but that “Her experience when she was away will forever change her. It will take a lot to go back to how Clary used to be.”
With Clary returning so will Jonathan who is now played as Luke Baines and is described as the “real” version of the character.
Darren Swimmer, the other co-showrunner of ‘Shadowhunters’ adds “We didn’t want to do anything that wouldn’t allow the world to continue in people’s imaginations.” This likely means that while not all of the story will be wrapped up, the series likely won’t end up in the apocalypse.

Based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling young adult fantasy book series, “The Mortal Instruments,” Shadowhunters follows a group of human-angel hybrids who fight to protect their world by hunting down demons. With warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and ominous threats at every turn, the Shadowhunters must lean on each other and their abilities to keep the darkness at bay.
Be sure and tune in to Freeform on Monday, February 25th, 2019, for the start of the Final Hunt.
