Titans

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains SPOILERS for the Season 1 finale of ‘Titans’, so if you don’t want to know what happens, you may wish to turn back.

Called it!  Last week, DC Universe unveiled a trailer for the Season 1 finale of ‘Titans’ in which a wheelchair-bound Jason Todd (Curran Walters) visits Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), who is living in suburban bliss, married to Dove (and, as it turns out they have a kid).  Jason tells Dick that Batman has gone off the deep end, following the death of Commissioner Gordon.  As the trailer continues, Dick reluctantly returns to Gotham and leads the police after a Batman that has gone over the edge and is killing his opponents, with one in particular as his ultimate objective– The Joker.  And, as the trailer revealed, Batman gets his vengeance by dropping The Joker off a rooftop onto a car below.

Yeah, that’s a a lot to put into a teaser trailer.  So much so, that I called this as b.s. and chalked it up to a dream sequence of some sort.  Looks like I was right!

At the end of the last episode, Dick alone was allowed to enter the force field around Angela Azarath’s home, after Raven was tricked into summoning her father, Trigon (Seamus Dever).

So to cut from that to Dick chasing Batman in Gotham City would be jarring and could possibly leave the first season on a dangling cliffhanger.  That is a common practice with shows, but would be upsetting.

Now it seems that, like in the comics, Trigon sends his victim into a nightmarish dreamscape where they are confronted by their worst fears, and this is Dick’s.

Find out how all this fits into the overall story when DC Universe releases the season finale of ‘Titans’ this Friday.
