Alita: Battle Angel New Images Introduce New Characters

Those familiar with the work of James Cameron know that he creates worlds that take the audience into his films. His upcoming project, ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ will put viewers into a post-post-apocalyptic world reeling from the aftermath of a technological fall, where the entire shape of civilization has completely changed. In this world, undergoing upgrades is the new normal.

The film is produced by Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez, and follows the titular Alita (Rosa Salazar), a disembodied ‘core’, awakened and given a new body by Dr. Ido (Christoph Waltz) who comes to find out that Alita is more than what she seems.

Alita will face off against other machines along the way, as we can see in two new images from the film! The first image features Ed Skrein as Zapan. Cameron has said this character carries his favorite design.

The second image shows Grewishka, played by Jackie Earle Haley. Haley spoke about his character in an interview, saying:

“He’s got brute strength, but he’s also empowered by these cyber-doctors. One of his skills is that he’s got these talon-like fingers that can shoot across the room, pierce just about anything and snap back just as fast.”

The cast also includes Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, and Keean Johnson. Here is the official synopsis for ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ which opens in theaters February 14, 2019:

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (‘AVATAR’) and Robert Rodriguez (‘SIN CITY’), comes
‘ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL’, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar)
awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by
Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg
shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate
her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history
while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories.
But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers
a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control.
If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world
she’s grown to love.
