Donna Troy‘s existence in the ‘Titans’ universe was teased in the first episode when her name appeared in Dick Grayson’s list of contacts on his cell phone. Viewers have already met some figures from his past in Hawk and Dove (Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly) who appeared in the second and third episodes. Now it looks as though the time has come to meet Donna, as played by Conor Leslie.
As producer Akiva Goldsman said:
“Wonder Girl is spectacular, and exactly what you would imagine, you know? We’re trying to… Hawk and Dove are in the second episode, we’re trying to feather [our characters] out. It’s not like everybody is in every episode. We are [doing] a little bit of moving through relationships, in order to form the team.”
Just a warning, though, it does not appear that Leslie will make her ‘Titans’ debut in this week’s episode. It is possible that she will premier in the November 30th episode. In these four images, she is shown as a photographer, which was her career in the comics, although she was more of a fashion photographer than an investigator. But putting her into more of a sleuth-type role might make it easier to work her into the world of the ‘Titans’.
Check out Donna as she will appear on the show:
Although she is dressed in civilian attire here, the producers have repeatedly referred to her as Wonder Girl, so at some point, expect her to appear in a more adventurous costume, which is rumored to be colored red like her most famous outfit.
In the comics, Donna was a human baby that Wonder Woman rescued from a burning building and took to Paradise Island, where she was imbued with Amazon abilities and raised by Diana’s mother Hippolyta. As a teen, Donna left Themyscira and joined the Teen Titans as Wonder Girl, although she later adopted a more “adult” alias, Troia. Her origin was severely scrambled after ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’, but in recent years attempts have been made to bring her back in line with her classic history.
Leslie recently had a recurring role on ‘The Man in the High Castle’ as Trudy Walker. She also appeared on the FX series ‘Graves’ and the limited series ‘Shots Fired’. Interestingly, Leslie starred in a movie directed by and costarring Alan Ritchson called ‘Cicada 3301’. Also part of the cast is Tomaso Sanelli, who also stars on ‘Titans’ as young Dick Grayson.
New episodes of ‘Titans’ are available each Friday on DC Universe.
