PennyworthIt was recently announced that Jack Bannon and Ben Aldridge would be joining the Batman prequel ‘Pennyworth‘ and now Ryan Fletcher (‘Outlander’,’Shetland ‘) and Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (‘Casualty’,’Eastenders’) have also joined the cast. These two will be series regulars for the upcoming Epix series which is being put together by director Danny Cannon and Bruno Heller who is the showrunner of ‘Gotham.’

On the series, we’ll see Fletcher play Dave Boy while Bennett will portray Bazza. These two are Alfred’s lifelong friends and served with him in the army. Davy Boy is described as “a haggard Highland Scotsman who is slowly drinking himself to death since leaving the army, is a close ally of Alfred.” He is “also the most unpredictable of the trio.” While Bazza is “a posh Bajan playboy, is highly proficient at logistics and a valued member of Alfred’s team.”

The series is slated to be a 10-episode 1-hour run that puts a focus on Aldridge as Thomas Wayne and Bannon as Alred Pennyworth as the two become friends and working partners. It sounds very much to be a spy-based drama as Pennyworth is “a former British SAS soldier in his 20s” who ends up forming a security company which Wayne hires. The series is set in the 60s, so Bruce has yet to be born.

Production for the pilot episode is slated for October 22nd, 2018 with Cannon directing it at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. Previously, it was indicated that they hope to have the first season completed by June to polish it up for a fall of 2019 debut.
