With press junkets in full swing for ‘Venom,’ director Ruben Fleischer has been questioned about of his projects but most importantly for ‘Zombieland 2‘ fans he was able to give a rather extensive update. There wasn’t anything shared about the plot for the film or who else has been cast, but he does hint at more characters as well as the progress which has been made on it so far.
According to Fleischer:
“Yeah! I’m thrilled actually! We are in the middle right now of casting for the film. We’re going to introduce a bunch of new characters, which is really cool and exciting. We obviously have the original four coming back (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin), which is a dream come true. We start shooting in January in Atlanta. I think I go there in like four weeks, which is crazy. It’s nuts. I don’t get a day off. I don’t get any rest. It’s all coming together in a really exciting way. The writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who have gone on to write both Deadpool films are returning. They’re incredible. The script is amazing. The cast is the best there is, and I just can’t wait.”
It sounds like we’ll likely be hearing some casting news soon as the team is likely doing auditions at this time. With the movie filming in January, the creative team has to be moving full steam ahead, and it won’t be long until more details emerge. Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin are slated to return which is fantastic news to fans of the original film.
