It’s always a particularly peculiar occurrence to get a trailer for a trailer of a movie and I don’t think I’ll ever find it not weird. However, due to the recent controversy surrounding the long-awaited adaptation of ‘Ender’s Game’, the film can use all the positive promotional help it can get. After calls for a boycott because of Orson Scott Card’s anti-LGBT outlooks, the studio has done it’s best to distance themselves from the author and is preparing for the final major push to get those butts in the seats.

Now, tomorrow is when the actual final trailer is set to debut, but before that drops, we have a preview of Gavin Hood’s upcoming sci-fi epic featuring quick glances of a few of the top stars appearing in the film, as well as a few hints of outer space action. You can see the preview in the video below followed by the synopsis for the story:

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham, all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin, a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Despite the weirdness of a trailer of a trailer, what do you think of this look at ‘Ender’s Game’? Without incorporating your feelings about Orson Scott Card, how do you think this film looks? Are you excited to see it finally hit theaters? What are the chances of director Gavin Hood redeeming himself from ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ with this new film? ‘Ender’s Game’ starring Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Viola Davis, and Ben Kingsley is scheduled for a November 1, 2013 release.
