Jodie Whittaker

When it was announced last year that the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor would be female, the news was met with both celebration and criticism. While it remains to be seen how Jodie Whittaker will portray the iconic Time Lord, fans have learned that the actress herself has not let the critics get her down! In a video from U.K.’s Stylist magazine, Whittaker reads comments from the Internet from fans reacting to the news that the Doctor would be a woman. Some of the comments are in favor of the change. And, of course, many are not.

In addition to Whittaker, the new season of ‘Doctor Who’ stars Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill, and Tosin Cole. The season premiere episode, titled ‘The Woman Who Fell to Earth,’ hits the BBC on October 7! Here is the official synopsis for the first episode:

“We don’t get aliens in Sheffield.” In a South Yorkshire city, Ryan Sinclair, Yasmin Khan,
and Graham O’Brien are about to have their lives changed forever, as a mysterious woman,
unable to remember her own name, falls from the night sky. Can they believe a word she says?
And can she help solve the strange events taking place across the city?
