There is another round of reshoots coming to Fox’s Marvel film ‘New Mutants‘ to give it even more horror but that should work out to the best according to one star. Anya Taylor-Joy (‘The Witch,’ ‘Split’) feels confident that not only will these reshoots help tighten up the film but bring it more in line with what had originally been pitched to the cast and studio. That last comment has to make you wonder what Josh Boone (‘The Fault in Our Stars’) had originally ended up changing and if it had been his idea or the studios.

While the reshoots are vast and could involve as much as half of what was already filmed, Taylor-Joy thinks it is for the best. She was asked about these reshoots while being interviewed about her upcoming mini-series ‘The Miniaturist’ and shared that getting to take on the role of Magik again to finish these up is “just great” and that “the most important thing” is to deliver a good movie. As to how things are changing? Share shares that:

“I think we’re making the movie that we set out to make, in the beginning. That’s what we’re going to end up delivering to people. It feels like the movie we all signed up to do, which is good.”

When we had first learned about the reshoots, it sounded as if the movie that was shot had been forced to stray away from the horror film that had been pitched to everyone and now Fox is letting him take it in the direction which he originally wanted to go. The studio is likely willing to take a few extra gambles as the Disney buyout gets closer to being finalized. Either way, a horror movie set in the world of the “X-Men” sounds excellent even if Disney might end up scrubbing any sequels.

Do you agree with Anya Taylor-Joy that ‘New Mutants’ might be better with another round of reshoots? Will the film even matter if Disney ends up scrubbing most of Fox’s current ‘X-Men’ titles? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!

‘The New Mutants’ is directed by Josh Boone and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, and Alice Braga. The film is due to arrive in theaters on August 2, 2019.
