Mark Ruffalo Avengers 4

According to Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner and his mean green alter-ego The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the upcoming “reshoots” for the highly anticipated ‘Avengers 4’ (which still doesn’t have a proper name) are not actually reshoots at all but rather a reason to reassemble the cast to complete the movie.  It seems that the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, aren’t quite sure how to resolve one of the biggest cliffhangers in film history.  So they are basically making it up as they go.  “It’s a very living organism,” he stated, “Even as we approach it being a locked picture, we’re still working on it.”

As the actor further revealed:

“We’re doing reshoots starting in September, and then we’ll go back into the international tour, we’ll go on tour.  Then you guys will get the second installment. Which we don’t even know what it’s gonna be yet. We’re not just doing reshoots. We’re going to finish the movie, which we really didn’t get to finish totally when we left it last year.

“I don’t even know that [the Russos} really know [what happens] exactly.  Some of it is happening while we’re there. It’s pretty amazing. And we’ll shoot some stuff and a few days later come back and reshoot it ’cause we wanna take it in another direction. It’s a very living organism; even as we approach it being a locked picture, we’re still working on it.

“We were getting dummy scripts. That really blew my mind, because I was like, you have to really go out of your way to give everyone a script that isn’t quite what’s gonna happen, you know… some of us, I think, didn’t even know what we were watching until we were actually watching it, finished.”

So while fans don’t know what to expect in the next ‘Avengers’ movie, it seems as though the cast and crew are equally in the dark.  After all, it can’t be easy to follow up such a massive cliffhanger.  Guess we won’t know how the dusted heroes survive until next year when the final chapter of the current MCU comes out.

‘Avengers 4’ Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
