Doom Patrol

A new casting call for Cyborg‘s father for DC Universe’s ‘Doom Patrol’ has emerged which indicate that the series will be looking into the origin story of the half-man half-machine superhero.

While we’ve already seen a live-action take on Silas Stone in ‘Justice League,’ a casting call for the series states they are looking for an actor who is African-American in his late 50s and will be a recurring guest star in the first season. They are also describing the character “as an incredibly intelligent scientist, with a straight-shooter attitude, who doesn’t care too much for small talk. He is only focused on his lab work, maybe a little too much, to the point that it has caused him to have a shaky relationship with his son Vic as Silas struggles in juggling being both a scientist and a father at the same time.”

This is the most common take on Cyborg’s father. What isn’t outright said here, though, is that including Silas opens all kinds of doors for a DC Universe shared universe and crossovers such as including S.T.A.R. Labs which could directly play into a future ‘Titans’ story arc or even be adapted for ‘Doom Patrol.’

Are you thrilled that Silas Stone will be showing up on ‘Doom Patrol’? Will Cyborg’s father is actively involved in this iteration or will he appear in an origin or flashback scene? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Synopsis:

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.
