We are still six months away from the premiere of ‘Captain Marvel,’ but that isn’t stopping Disney from releasing teasers to keep fans interested! The first solo female superhero MCU installment led by Brie Larson will serve as a prequel to ‘Infinity War,’ and takes place in the 90s. Newly released images show the humans and aliens that will aid Carol Danvers as she takes control of her powers!
Larson is joined in her film by Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. members Nick Fury and Phil Coulson. Other returning MCU members are Lee Pace as Ronan and Djimon Hounsou as Korath. The cast also includes Lashana Lynch and Gemma Chan, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, and McKenna Grace.
Check out the new images below! Starting, of course, with Larson in all of her Captain Marvel glory!
The next image gives us a look at Starforce, the elite military team on the Kree planet Hala. Starforce is described by the directors as “the SEAL Team Six of space.” In addition to Carol Danvers, its members include Korath (Hounsou) and Minn-Erva (Chan).
We also get a look at Law as the Starforce commander and mentor to Captain Marvel. When asked about their relationship, Law said:
“These extraordinary powers she has, he sees them as something of a blessing and something that she has to learn how to control. That’s a motif throughout the piece, the element of learning to control one’s emotions and to use your powers wisely.”
More images show Larson at various stages in the film.
Finally! A first look at the Skrulls as they make their debut appearance in the MCU. Mendelsohn plays their leader, Talos, seen here in his creepy, elf-like Skrull form.
Below is a look at Mendelsohn’s Talos as he goes undercover as a human to work within S.H.I.E.L.D.
Check out the return of Hounsou’s Korath and Pace’s Ronan the Accuser. In ‘Captain Marvel,’ Ronan hasn’t become an extremist yet but is still a high-ranking member of the Kree society.
‘Captain Marvel’ will serve as Jackson’s ninth appearance as Nick Fury. Because the film takes place in the 90s, digital de-aging helped bring back some of his youth. And his other eye!
We get a first look at newcomer Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, one of Carol’s oldest friends who’s an ace Air Force pilot with the call sign “Photon,” and a single mother to a young daughter.
‘Captain Marvel’ will open in theaters on March 8, 2019!
