We’ve been dying to hear more about Brie Larson‘s upcoming portrayal of ‘Captain Marvel‘ and now have gotten both a new look at the character as well as some ideas of what we can expect from the film when it is released!

First, check out the first full look courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:

Our first hints of the hero were given when Nick Fury paged her at the post-credits scene in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and now we’ll see how the most powerful superhero yet will live up to the high expectations we’ll have of her for ‘Avengers 4.’

As to how Carol Danvers will act when she appears on screen in the 90’s, Larson shares:

“She can’t help but be herself. She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”

This description sounds exactly like the character fans know and love from the comics. We’ve also been given some details about the overall beats of the film. Audiences won’t be seeing a direct origin film as the movie starts with Danvers having already received her powers and left Earth behind to join a Kree team called Starforce under the command of Jude Law.

It won’t be long before we see Carol return to her home planet and looking into her past which is likely how we’ll see her origin story told. Returning to Earth won’t be easy as a team of shape-shifting Skrulls have also come to the planet in an attempt to invade our world. This will likely be just as much of a setup for the film as it will for possible moments in ‘Avengers 4’ and beyond.

Director Anna Boden also shared how we’ll see Danvers being shown as a human adapting to these great powers:

“This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection. But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness.”

With this being the first official news coming out about the film and with a release date coming up, you can imagine a teaser trailer will likely also be dropping any time.
