Dave Bautista

We already knew that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘ was being delayed with the crew being let out of their contracts and now Dave Bautista has confirmed that the movie is “on hold indefinitely.” This is a blow to anyone who somehow held out hope that the firing of James Gunn wouldn’t push back production of the film too far as they “regrouped.” It seems pretty clear that the studio was still planning on using Gunn’s script so the main stumbling block would be to find a new director who could bring the actors into giving the same kind of portrayal which fans have known and loved.

Obviously, that isn’t going to be too easy of a task. Bautista has made it clear that he isn’t enthusiastic about returning to play the part outside of his contractual obligations and doubles down on how unhappy he is with the situation in the following statement:

“I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn. I don’t want to go too much into it; I don’t want to make it a political conversation… They are putting the movie off; it’s on hold indefinitely… I have an issue; I have a moral and a political issue with what they’ve done.”

Hopefully, Disney didn’t think this would quietly be swept under the rug and production would move forward without causing any further waves as the actor shared that “I have been very vocal about the way I feel and I’m not afraid to admit the way I feel. That’s the way I feel.” Bautista isn’t planning on changing this approach for whenever production does ramp back up.

The reason being is somewhat personal to the actor who stated that: “I love James. James really changed my life, so it’s a personal thing too. I struggled, I starved for three years, I could barely get a job. There were a few people who believed in me along the way, but James was the one who really changed the course of my life.”

Do you think we’ll be seeing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ going into production in 2019 or have the problems from Gunn being fired put this project on the backburner for even longer? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
