Hallmark movie regular Anthony Konechny has joined ‘Supergirl’ Season Four in the recurring role as DEO Agent Jensen, a rookie working with Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), who will make his debut in the season premiere on October 14.
Konechny starred in not one, but TWO Hallmark Original Christmas movies last year, ‘Home For Christmas Day’ and ‘The Christmas Train’, plus four other Hallmark Originals AND he appeared on the Hallmark series ‘When the Heart Calls’.
He had a small cameo in an episode of ‘Smallville’ plus one-off appearances on ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Tomorrow People’. He also can be seen in the movies ‘Godzilla’, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. He may be remembered for his truly disturbing role on FOX’s ‘Almost Human’ on which he played a Ken doll-like android called MX-43 ‘1’, which you can see to the right.
Yikes.
Konechny joins David Ajala, Robert Baker, Bruce Boxleitner, April Parker Jones, Nicole Amber Maines, Rhona Mitra, Jesse Rath, and Sam Witwer who are also joining the ‘Supergirl’ in either regular or recurring roles. Jones’ character Colonel Haley is described as a “hardline career military woman” who is willing to die in order to carry out her orders. Her military rank could mean that she will have some interaction with Konechny’s Agent Jensen.
Rath actually made his debut in Season Three, playing futuristic genius Brainiac 5, but he has been bumped up to series regular for the upcoming season. Brainiac 5 is a member of the Legion of Superheroes. Maines is playing the ancestor of one of his Legion teammates, Nura Nal, a.k.a. Dream Girl. Maines’ character, Nia Nal will adopt the identity of Dreamer. Maines is transgender and her character will be as well. As Nia, she is a cub reporter at CatCo. who will be studying under Kara’s guidance. She has a foot in the door, having worked with Cat Grant as a White House intern.
Boxleitner replaced Brent Spiner in the role of Vice President Baker, who steps up as a leader when his country needs him most. That may imply that something bad happens to Lynda Carter’s President Olivia Marsdin, who is secretly a shapeshifting alien. (Like Konechny, Boxleitner has appeared in numerous Hallmark Original movies and on the Hallmark series ‘Cedar Cove’.)
The fourth season will revolve around a growing anti-alien sentiment among the population. Leading this movement will be former CIA agent/militia leader Benjamin Lockwood, a.k.a. Agent Liberty, who will be portrayed by Witwer. Also playing a major role is Mitra’s Mercy Graves, a former associate of Lex Luthor’s, who steps into the spotlight with her ex-boss in prison. Baker plays her brother Otis, who isn’t very bright, but has the ability to kill aliens with his mind! And finally, Ajala portrays the charming British telepath Manchester Black.
These new recruits join returning cast members Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood and Katie McGrath.
‘Supergirl’ returns to The CW on new night, Sunday, October 14 at 8pm EST.
