Superman arrowverse

Rejoice!  Tyler Hoechlin‘s Superman is returning to ‘Supergirl’ and the Arrowverse this fall and not just in any random episode.  He will appear during the big Arrowverse crossover, which will introduce Batwoman, portrayed by Ruby Rose.  This will mark Hoechlin’s fifth appearance as Superman on ‘Supergirl’ and if he pops up in either ‘Arrow’ or ‘The Flash’, that will be his first.  But Superman won’t be showing up alone.  The Arrowverse version of Lois Lane will make her debut during that event as well!

Executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner announced in a statement:

“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse.  This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”

Lois not only joins Hoechlin’s Superman/Clark Kent, but remember James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) is also a former colleague of theirs.  It wasn’t revealed what her relationship to Clark will be.  Originally, they were rivals, while Lois was unknowingly in love with his alter ego.  In more recent times, she learned of Clark’s secret identity and eventually they were married and even had a kid.

Queller and Rovner did not announce who would be playing Lois, so either she hasn’t been cast or a deal hasn’t been finalized.  Perhaps the most famous live-action Lois is Margot Kidder (left) who played the role in the four Christopher Reeve ‘Superman’ movies from the late ’70s-early ’80s.  Before Kidder, Noel Neill and Phyllis Coates portrayed her in film serials and the 1950s ‘Adventures of Superman’ TV series.  Since then, Kate Bosworth and Amy Adams have played her in movies, while Teri Hatcher and Erica Durance portrayed her on TV.  Durance has appeared on ‘Supergirl’ as Kara’s Kryptonian mother Alura Zor-El.

This year’s crossover event will take place in Gotham City, the usual home of Batman.  How will that draw in Superman and Lois, who, like Supergirl, live on a parallel Earth?  (Or maybe it’s the other heroes that visit the Gotham City on Kara’s world.)

The first part of the crossover takes place on ‘The Flash’ on Sunday, December 9th at 8pm EST.  Part two is on ‘Arrow’, on December 10, at 8pm.  The third and final chapter takes place on ‘Supergirl’ on Tuesday, December 11, at 8pm.  Note, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ are exchanging their typical time slots for this crossover.  ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ won’t be part of this event.

Who would you like to see play Lois Lane in the Arrowverse?
