Welcome back once again to an all new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! Summer is winding down and the fall is arriving just as quickly! Many stores are already completing their fall resets in their toy sections, meaning there’s plenty to be found on clearance to fill in the gaps in your collections! This week there isn’t much going on, but we’ve still got new releases from Diamond Select Toys and NECA, as well as reveals from Hasbro, Boss Fight Studio, and more! Things might seem quiet but there’s still so much to see in the Toy News for the week of August 21st, 2018!
It’s Morphin Time At Hasbro
We have known this announcement was coming in some form for months now, but it’s finally here! A few weeks back the team at Hasbro announced that they had obtained the master property license for the long-running ‘Power Rangers’ brand, and now we are finally getting our first look at the first ever ‘Power Rangers’ collectibles from someone other than Bandai (who has held the master toy license for a quarter of a century!). This week at the annual ‘Power Rangers’ fan convention, ‘Power Morphicon’, Hasbro decided to give fans of the franchise a taste of what is to come in their newly announced ‘Power Rangers: Lightning Collection‘ line of 6″ figures!
Fans can expect this line to feature fully articulated figures based on various iterations of the ‘Power Rangers’ franchise from the past twenty-five years of stories. The first figure shown was the original White Ranger from the ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ era. Hasbro has said we can look forward to these figures including unmasked heads featuring the likeness of the original actors, character specific weapons and effects, and real world proportions so you no longer have to worry about your ‘Rangers’ figures being too bulky!
The ‘Power Rangers: Lightning Collection’ from Hasbro is expected to hit the market in Spring 2019. In the meantime, if there is any Bandai ‘Power Rangers’ merchandise you still wanted we recommend buying it sooner rather than later, as their time with the license closes out at years end.
