Deadpool 2

The home video release of ‘Deadpool 2’ is approaching and here is a sample of one of the extras that will be available on the Blu-ray.  This is a deleted scene that takes place at the X-Mansion after Wade (Ryan Reynolds) convinces Colossus (voiced by Stefan Kapicic) to take him in.  But Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) doesn’t buy Deadpool’s nice guy routine and is probably the only one who gets his not-so-subtle innuendos.  The scene also includes a bit more with NTW’s girlfriend Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna).

There is a small Easter egg, when Deadpool is switching out the masking tape label on an aluminum container in the refrigerator for a strip of velcro.  There are velcro labels for NTW, Yukio, Colossus, Beast, and “Wheels,” a nickname that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine coined for Professor X in the first ‘X-Men’ movie.

Check out the scene below:

The ‘Deadpool 2’ home release will feature ‘The Super Duper Cut’ with extra footage that wasn’t included in the theatrical version, although ‘The Super Duper Cut’ was shown on the big screen at an event during San Diego Comic-Con.  Among the other extras is a deleted scene called ‘Chess With Omega Red’ which features football player Dakoda Shepley of the New York Jets as the popular X-Men villain, whose performance was completely eliminated from the theatrical edit of the film.

‘Deadpool 2’ grossed $732 million worldwide and $318M domestic, making it the fifth-highest grossing movie of 2018 and the third-highest grossing R-rated picture of all time and the third-highest grossing ‘X-Men’ movie.

With the recently approved merger of Disney and Fox, it’s unclear how the ‘X-Men’ movies will be impacted.  The fact that the ‘Deadpool’ movies are rated-R may mean that Disney will remain largely hands-off with them.  There are already plans for a third ‘Deadpool’ and for the character to return alongside Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’s Domino in Drew Goddard‘s ‘X-Force’.

‘Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut’ arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 21st.
