The first season of Marvel’s ‘Runaways‘ finally saw the teenagers do just that and now we’re learning a bit as to what to expect from the second season. One of the big takeaways now that these young powered individuals are on the run is that we’ll be seeing more characters introduced.
When talking about the pacing of the series going forward, director Josh Schwartz at this year’s TCA stated:
“It’s going to accelerate. We are now running with our kids. Our focus shifts to these kids and trying to survive in the streets… there’s a greater sense of tension and momentum in keeping with where we are in this part of the story.”
With what they’ve gone through, we’re going to soon see this group of teenagers grow up in ways beyond their young age:
“In the real world, young people are dealing with adult themes. The world the adults are leaving young people, there’s a responsibility on young people to fix this world. It feels so broken in so many ways. That is also a theme for our characters and for the show.”
As to the parents trying to find their children, it isn’t just out of love as there is a “ticking clock that requires them to find their kids before something catastrophic potentially could occur.”
For new characters being brought into the fold, Schwartz does say:
“There are some characters who appear in the book who are appearing in Season 2.”
While he wouldn’t state who they were, Stephanie Savage teased that “They are really popular, exciting characters.”
An easy guess would be Victor Mancha, though if they go that route, his connections to Ultron would likely be changed for his inclusion. The Skrull Xavin could be another fun inclusion while the vampiric Topher could make for an exciting story arc.
