HBO Programming Chief Casey Bloys came to the Television Critics Association event earlier this week brimming with ‘Game of Thrones’ news, eager to share them with a world hungry for any and all news from Westeros, especially since it has been so long since Season 7.
First of all, he confirmed that the final season will premiere in early 2019, which goes along with the rumor out there that the final season will put ‘Game of Thrones’ back in its original time slot of March/April, meaning we could be watching as early as March of 2019! As for his thoughts on the final season/ finale of the epic series, Bloys would not go into any details (no one really expected that he would), but he did share one sentiment:
“I’m not going to say what to expect (in the final season) thought I will say that it’s pretty great.”
And for more ‘Game Of Thrones’ news, Bloys revealed that they are, at this moment, only doing ONE ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off, saying this”was the one we’re excited about.” According to Bloys:
“We are doing a pilot that Jane Golden wrote.”
When asked about the about recent report from the Belfast Telegraph claiming that shooting on the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off would be starting in a few months, Bloys instantly shot the story down, claiming:
“I don’t know where that report came from, we’re hoping to go into production in early ’19.”
Which makes way more sense, considering the fact that they have not even announced a director for the new series, or made any casting announcements, so it would be pretty ridiculous to say they are going to go into production in a month or two without those essential elements.
Still, it is very exciting to know the wait is close to being over for that final season of ‘Game of Thrones,’ and almost equally exciting to know that they have finally picked the story they are doing the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off with, and have enough confidence to be moving forward with it. Do you agree that April/ March are the most likely months for them to air the final seasons? Do you have any theories on what the spin-off is going to be about? Feel free to share any and all thoughts you have in the comments section below!
