Eddie Redmayne Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

‘Harry Potter’ fans have a lot to look forward to as they prepare to once again dive into J.K. Rowling’s world with the release of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘ later this year. But what’s the most exciting part? It’s hard to say. Maybe it’s the chance to see a younger version of Dumbledore or reacquaint yourself with Newt Scamander and his friends. Or maybe you’re just thrilled to revisit the wizarding world.

If you’re Eddie Redmayne, though, you know exactly what got you excited about the movie. After all, you made it! And speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Redmayne revealed that what most excited him was actually the tone of the film:

“The most riveting aspect is the tonal change. It’s darker and more rigorous and weaving in the ‘Potter’ lore we’re much more familiar with. So, these characters you met in the first film are now in the wizarding world you understand more thoroughly. When I read [the script] it had these cryptic elements to it and it played like a thriller that made it a page-turner.”

While ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ was very much a lighthearted romp, the sequel’s tonal shift is not entirely surprising. After all, the scripts for the series are being written by J.K. Rowling, and anyone who’s read the ‘Harry Potter’ novels knows full well how capable Rowling is of handling both the lighter and darker ends of the tonal spectrum. She just made her way from one end to the other a lot quicker this time.

Directed by David Yates from a screenplay by ‘Harry Potter’ creator J.K. Rowling, ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Johnny Depp, Zoe Kravitz, and Jude Law. The film is scheduled for release on November 16, 2018.
