This year marks the 26th anniversary of Warner Brothers Studios critically acclaimed ‘Batman: The Animated Series’! Launched in September 1992, ‘Batman: TAS’ is largely considered by the Batman fan base to be the most ‘definitive’ version of Batman outside of the comics themselves. In 2014 the team at DC Collectibles launched a highly successful line of 6″ scale figures based on the classic animated series, which gave fans over fifty fully articulated figures and even a number of large scale vehicles like the Batmobile and Batwing during the toy lines run from 2014 through 2017. For the better part of the last year, collectors have feared the demise of this fan favorite toyline as the most recent release hit the shelves almost a year ago in August 2017. But all of that changes now!
This weekend at San Diego Comic Con 2018, the team at DC Collectibles has pulled back the curtain to reveal four all-new figures and a new vehicle for the line! New figures coming to the line include classic ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ versions (as opposed to the later version of the series ‘The New Batman Adventures’) of The Scarecrow, Two-Face, The Grey Ghost, and HARDAC Batman! Whether these are the last figures in the line is hard to say at this point, but the fact that DC Collectibles is giving fans their heavily demanded classic look Scarecrow and Two-Face is fantastic news! Hopefully, the line will continue for a few more waves of figures so collectors can truly complete the shows major cast members (Rupert Thorn, Maxie Zeus, classic style Baby Doll, Red Claw, and TNBA Penguin and Batwoman ((Batwomen?)) come to mind).
If those aren’t enough, DC Collectibles are providing even more fanservice with the announcement of their first ever Batcycle! The Batcycle Deluxe Vehicle features working lights, freespinning wheels, and and even comes packaged with a special Batman figure that includes two alternative helmeted heads, a poseable cape, and several new points of articulation to allow him to better ‘ride’ the Batcycle!
These reveals come hot on the heels of DC Collectibles recently announced ‘Justice League: The Animated Series’ line that is based on the ‘Batman: TAS’ follow up series that originally aired from 2001-2004. This line, which is comprised of all the main ‘Justice League’ team members from the show, will be available exclusively to subscribers of DC Entertainment’s new ‘DC Universe’ streaming service.

DC Collectibles will also add new characters to its fan-favorite Batman: The Animated Series (BTAS) action figure line and debut the company’s first-ever Batcycle, as seen in the award-winning TV series. Scaled for 6“ action figures, the Batcycle measures 9.25“ long and includes a variety of light-up features and two free-spinning wheels that enable the bike to turn. The double-sided display base allows fans to “park” the Batcycle in the Batcave or on the streets of Gotham City. The Batcycle set will also include one BTAS Batman action figure that features two interchangeable helmet heads, new articulation points that allow the character to “ride” the Batcycle and a poseable cape. DC Collectibles will also release new individual BTAS action figures in 2019, including Two-Face, Gray Ghost, H.A.R.D.A.C., and Scarecrow. Each character will feature unique accessories based on their appearance in the animated series.
In addition to new Batman: The Animated Series action figures, DC Collectibles will also debut 6“ action figures based on the Justice League animated series that aired from 2001 to 2004. The Justice League animated figures will be available exclusively for members of the DC Universe digital subscription service beginning in fall 2018.
“Our animated action figures are a staple of DC Collectibles, and we’re so excited to expand the line into the Justice League animated series and add more Batman: The Animated Series characters that fans have been asking for,” said Jim Fletcher, executive creative director of DC Collectibles at DC Entertainment. “As this line continues, we are constantly challenging ourselves to think of new ways to bring the animated series to life. We hope fans enjoy giving their figures a ride on the new Batcycle and recreating their favorite scenes from the show with the intricately detailed display base.”
