While Greg Grunberg (‘Heroes’) hasn’t outright confirmed that he is returning in ‘Star Wars Episode IX‘ it seems pretty obvious that he will be. This Resistance pilot was first introduced to audiences in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ though Temmin “Snap” Wexley didn’t have an appearance in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi.’
That being said, his story was expanded upon in Chuck Wendig’s ‘Star Wars: Aftermath‘ where he was the teenage son of the protagonist in the story. In fact, Wexley would go on to be in all three novels of the “Aftermath” trilogy and followed in his mother’s footsteps to become an active member of the Resistance.
While he had helped in destroying the Starkiller Base, his absence made it unclear as to his fate. While there was a chance he didn’t survive that encounter, his apparent return likely puts him as one of the pilots who was out seeking allies as General Leia had requested.
As to Grunberg returning, he was asked about that at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con at an interview for ‘From The Bridge,’ and he responded:
“You know what – we’d better or else my wife is going to kill me for growing a beard. I can’t officially say anything, but this is getting itchy, and I’m getting itchy to go over there and do it.”
Anyone who is married can tell you that this almost has to be for a movie part and likely for “Star Wars” in this context.
It should be noted that ‘Star Wars Episode IX’ is being shot “over there” in England. It shouldn’t be too surprising that J.J. Abrams would call the actor back to return as they’ve been friends since childhood but this still isn’t official confirmation that we’ll see him again.
Do you think that Greg Grunberg’s Temmin “Snap” Wexley will have a significant part in ‘Star Wars Episode IX’? With the Resistance greatly diminished after the events of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ how vital do you think all of the pilots will be going forward? Share your thoughts below!
