iron fist

There were a lot of problems with the first season of Netflix’s ‘Iron Fist‘ but what fans were most vocal about was the lack of solid fight scenes. Finn Jones was supposed to embody one of the greatest martial artists on the entire planet as Danny Rand and the majority of the fighting was painful to watch.

Marvel TV took this to heart so in order to fix the problem they’ve tapped Clayton Barber to be the stunt coordinator this season. You might recognize his work from being responsible for the fight sequences in a couple of small films called ‘Creed’ and ‘Black Panther.’

Already a Marvel alum, Barber is known for creating visually spectacular and accurate fight sequences so knowing that he is going to be helping here should have fans relieved that we’ll finally see an Iron Fist that can fight.

The news came during a Q&A session at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Barber explained this his inspiration for the choreography of the fight sequences was “Old school kung fu. That’s what we wanted to do, we wanted to turn this thing into a punk rock song, and that’s what we did. You’re really going to enjoy it.”

I can’t wait to see everyone kung-fu fighting while being fast as lightning. However, if a single martial artist served as their inspiration, you can be happy to know that it was “Of course, Jackie Chan! That’s what we went off of, that’s why we’re calling it old school.”

With the attitude Rand has in the comics, I can’t argue this choice.

Are you willing to give the second season of ‘Iron Fist’ a chance with these changes? Do you feel that Jackie Chan’s work was a perfect inspirational choice for Danny Rand to be based on? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!

The second season of ‘Iron Fist’ will battle onto Netflix this September 7th, 2018!
