No one is quite sure what to make of DC Films and Warner Bros. making a Joker movie that isn’t part of their cinematic universe, but the studios have released a few fun new details to share. With Joaquin Phoenix‘s take on Joker moving forward, we’ve now learned both the name and release date of the upcoming film!
Phoenix’s work as the Clown Prince of Crime will be something that we can all see on October 4th, 2019, and will have the most famous of Batman’s rogue gallery having his first laugh. Speaking of Batman, it is rumored that the film may set up another set of Batman films outside of the current cinematic universe as it is rumored to include Thomas Wayne and be connected to ‘The Batman‘ which may no longer be a Ben Affleck starring film.
Rumors aside, the title of the movie has also been revealed to be ‘Joker‘ and it should be fun to see how this stands out from the multiple takes of Jared Leto‘s Joker which are also in various stages of development.
The movie which is directed by Todd Phillips is said to center “around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”
