Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

If you’ve ever had bad breath, you can only imagine how horrible atomic breath is, and Godzilla is letting it all out in this new promo shot from ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters.’ Director Michael Dougherty has shared a shot of this and included a few details for the upcoming film that will be set five years after the events of the first one.

A lot would normally change in five years and when a giant lizard causes mass destruction across the globe and disappears under the water as quickly as he arrived, people can’t stop talking about it. According to Dougherty:

“The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting, but there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”

Considering we already know that we’ll also be seeing King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan in the movie it shouldn’t be long until the world knows about these creatures as well.

Before we go much further, I’ll share that image of Godzilla I’m sure you’re dying to see:

The director won’t go into the image above in specifics “without giving away too much” though does say that “it takes place at a very key moment and it’s a sort of call to arms.”

As to the creatures, Dougherty spills the beans on them a little as well when he states that:

“Rodan’s been kind of a sidekick character, but I’ve always had a soft spot for him. In a lot of ways, he’s more powerful than Godzilla. He’s like this winged A-bomb. I think we’ve done him justice.”

It should be noted that the “MonsterVerse” is getting larger as just a year later ‘Godzilla vs. Kong‘ will be released. When asked if ‘King of the Monsters’ will lead up to that movie, Dougherty teases “It’s not like we’re bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there’s definitely some bread crumbs.”

I’m sure it’ll be easy to slip a few references of Kong in when we see Monarch have some screen time.

Did you love this new shot of Godzilla’s breath as much as we did? Are you looking forward to checking out ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ on the big screen next year? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
