We’ve been dying for details on the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Godzilla,‘ we’ve now got not only the major casting revealed but a synopsis that ties it in with ‘Kong: Skull Island‘ bringing these two giant creature features together. While we already know that a ‘Godzilla vs. Kong‘ is being slated for 2020, we’re going to be seeing some of the groundwork for that crossover laid in this film.

So how is Warner Brothers Pictures and Legendary Pictures bringing together their MonsterVerse? According to the synopsis:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

I’ve been eagerly looking forward to the movie ever since we found out that Michael Dougherty (‘Trick ‘r Treat’,’Krampus’) was set to direct, but the fact of the matter is that the stars they’ve lined up had me counting down the days and annoyed that they’ve only just begun filming! ‘Godzilla 2’ is set to star: Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi.

This all-star cast puts the first movie to shame from pure talent alone. Hopefully, some of them survive longer than Bryan Cranston did.

Are you looking forward to ‘Godzilla 2’? Does the synopsis have you stoked as to how it will tie into ‘Kong: Skull Island’ as well as expanding on the first film? Share your thoughts below!

‘Godzilla 2’ will be roaring into theaters on March 22nd, 2019.
