Just when you least expected it (or really, right when you expected it since this is a weekly column), it’s an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! San Diego Comic Con is almost upon us! We are only a little over a week away from the largest geek media event of the year where we will undoubtedly learn about the majority of our most anticipated toys, comics, movies, television series, and video games for the next year! This week is still yet another precursor to the main event, with a variety of new exclusives revealed and more! There’s so much to be excited about in the Toy News for the week of July 10th, 2018!
The Red Skull Lives!
Last week we showed you a sneak peek at what we assumed to be a new San Diego Comic Con exclusive box set from Hasbro. This week we are back to confirm that we were in fact correct and Hasbro will be releasing a special new SDCC exclusive collectors set of a 6″ Marvel Legends Red Skull figure along with a 1:1 scale life-sized electronic Tesseract prop replica as a part of the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe: The First 10 Years’ line!
This new Red Skull figure differs from the recent single-carded release almost entirely, with the standard release featuring a green-jackboot style uniform and this box set exclusive figure wearing a black ensemble completed with a long trenchcoat! Meanwhile, the Tesseract is life-sized as previously mentioned, giving you a chance to bring home a replica of one of the more iconic pieces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
This box set will be sold first at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, with remaining stock available on HasbroToyShop.com later after the convention. If you wanted to pick up this new Marvel Legends ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe: The First 10 Years’ Red Skull and Tesseract Box Set it will only set you back a cool $59.99 (which seems a small price to pay for the power of the Tesseract if you ask us).
Porg-tastic New SDCC Exclusives
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the ‘Star Wars’, Hasbro has decided to give us one more reason to be excited about Porgs! This week Hasbro has unveiled an all-new San Diego Comic Con exclusive box set for their ‘Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny’ line with an all-new ‘Chewie and Porgs’ collectors set! This set features an 11″ tall Chewbacca figure (scaled to other ‘Forces Of Destiny’ figures) along with two flocked Porg figures and a Porg Next that is filled with two baby Porglets! 
As mentioned earlier, this set is a San Diego Comic-Con 2018 exclusive, and will be sold exclusively at SDCC 2018. Any remaining stock at the end of the convention will be made available through HasbroToyShop.com at some point after the convention. Hasbro’s new ‘Star Wars: Forces of Destiny- Chewie and The Porgs’ collectors set is expected to sell for $49.99.
Whats Going On With This Super7 SDCC Exclusive?
So, much to no one’s surprise, when Super7 announced their San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Masters Of The Universe Classics ‘Whats Going On?’ Prince Adam figure, fans went nuts over it! The big problem they then faced was how they would address the sudden demand from fans and collectors who would be unable to attend SDCC 2018 and therefore unable to obtain this instant ‘must have figure’ for their collections! Thankfully for everyone involved, the team at Super7 have adjusted their plans and decided to make this figure a “made to order general release”!
So what does that mean? Well, in a nutshell, it means that they’re going to be taking pre-orders from the general public for this new ‘Whats Going On?’ Prince Adam figure starting on July 9th and remaining available until Sunday, July 22nd. People who place pre-orders will receive their figure later this year in October, but the figure will be produced on a ‘made to order’ basis; meaning that they will only be making about as many figures as they received pre-orders for. That means if you want this amazingly meme-tastic figure, you’ll have to make sure you preorder during the brief two-week window (which has already started!) in order to get one, or you will likely miss out on it forever (unless you want to pay insane scalper prices!). The new Super7 Masters Of The Universe Classics ‘Whats Going On?’ Prince Adam figure will be priced at $35. Check the full release statement from Super7 below!
As previously announced, Laughing Prince Adam will be available at our Hordak’s Lair pop-up event during San Diego Comi-Con. However, for those who cannot attend Comic-Con we are launching a pre-order for Laughing Prince Adam on Monday, July 9th that will close on Sunday, July 22nd. The price is $35 per figure which is the same as it will be in San Diego. A link to the pre-order site will be posted and shared next Monday.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There will NOT be a pick up option for pre-orders at Comic-Con or the Hordak’s Lair Pop-Up Event. The figures that are pre-ordered online will be received in October when they are shipped from our factory. The pre-orders will be made to order and the existing Laughing Prince Adam stock will only be available during San Diego Comic-Con for in-person purchases only.
By doing this we hope that everyone who wants to bring Laughing Prince Adam into their lives can do so.
