Doom

The upcoming ‘Doom‘ movie almost appears to have come together out of nowhere with development having been kept quiet, but now we’ve learned a couple of details from the film. The first is who Amy Manson’s character will be and the second is that the movie will include the BFG!

The BFG was introduced in the first ‘Doom’ game and is officially called the “Big Fragging Gun” though I’m pretty sure everyone who has played the game has used a different F-word to describe it. It should be noted that the stellar flop of the first attempt at a movie that starred Dwayne Johnson, Karl Urban, and Rosamund Pike referred to it as the “Bio Force Gun.”

Akie Kotabe is playing a character named Koki in ‘Doom’ and shared a copy of his audition tape which has the BFG reference:

While there is always the chance they’ll end up not using the BFG, this seems to the point that we’ll see a version of it on screen.

As to Manson’s character we’ve learned from a video on the official Twitter account that she’ll be called Joan Dark. While fans of the first person shooter ‘Perfect Dark’ might start to draw connections, this was likely just a coincidence.

Here is the video that included the reveal:

Still no news on how Doomguy will appear in the film at this time.

Are you looking forward to a new take on ‘Doom’? Do you think a gritty lower budget indie release like this will easily top the cesspool of a film that previously was released? Share your thoughts below!
