Guardians Of The Galaxy

SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ so if you haven’t seen it yet, proceed with caution.

The crew of the Marvel Universe are focused on the current hit ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and next year’s untitled ‘Avengers 4’ but a couple of movies are already scheduled to come after that– a sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and a third ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’  James Gunn will be back behind the camera for the third installment and has revealed the new movie’s title, which should come as no surprise.  Arriving in 2020 will be… ‘Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3’.

Gunn had previously teased that he might name the third movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy mp3’ after Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) upgraded from audio cassettes to a Zune in ‘Vol. 2’.  But it looks like he has opted to remain consistent with the second movie.

Gunn has said that the third movie will take place following the events in ‘Avengers 4’, which presumably will fix certain events from ‘Infinity War’.  After all, there was exactly one Guardian left at the end of that movie– Rocket.  There is the possibility that the third movie will focus on Sylvester Stallone‘s Stakar’s team which includes Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Charlie 27 (Ving Rhames), Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh), Mainframe (Miley Cyrus) and Krugarr.  But it’s unlikely that this group will completely replace the Guardians that fans already know and love.  Somehow, expect most of them to be back in ‘Avengers 4’.  The one likely exception will be Gamora (Zoe Saldana), but considering that scene with Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the yellow Soul Stone, she could be back too.

It’s also possible that we’ll see a return of Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha and her people the Sovereign and maybe even the introduction of Adam Warlock, although that’s unclear.  Also, expect an explanation as to what became of James’ brother Sean Gunn‘s character Kraglin, who was hanging out with the team at the end of ‘Guardians Vol. 2’ but was missing from ‘Infinity War’.

Are you looking forward to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3’ in 2020?
