solo: a star wars story ron howard

We’ve recently learned that Alden Ehrenreich who is playing everyone’s favorite “scruffy looking nerf herder” in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ has a three-picture deal but that doesn’t mean we’ll see another story that stars a young Han Solo. In fact, director Ron Howard seems to have dashed any hopes of that happening in a recent interview on the subject. Howard’s views aren’t set in stone on the direction that Lucasfilm is taking with the character but does prove that we might not see the actor piloting the Millennium Falcon again after the upcoming movie is released.

When specifically talking about the direction Disney and Lucasfilm are taking when it comes to the three-picture deal mentioned above, Howard says:

“I think the fans are going to define all of that. I mean I think that Lucasfilm and Disney in casting actors, and particularly younger actors, want to see what happens and build upon that. Certainly, they want the commitment from the young actors, but there are no concrete plans. I think there’s been a lot of creative energy and now marketing energy going behind this movie.”

This is vague, but clearly, a great way to guarantee actors would be able to return if the studio feels that it is a viable option. As with any initial plans for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ being anything past a one-off as ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ was:

“I think these are exactly what they’re meant to be, or what they’re designed to be. They’re single movies exploring the galaxy; but of course, as a company, I think they’re going to be very interested to see how people respond to it and take it from there. This whole thing is kind of a cool, ambitious exploration of what the galaxy and the Star Wars sensibility can continue to mean to fans.”

All of that being said, I’d honestly love for there to be a Donald Glover starring Lando Calrissian film if the trailers for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ are any indication and this would be a perfect spot to use one of Ehrenreich’s film contracts in.

Are you happy to hear that there aren’t currently plans for three Alden Ehrenreich Han Solo films? Do you think that ‘Lando: A Star Wars Story’ is the perfect way to bring both of these characters back to help fulfill the contract? Share your thoughts below!
