solo: a star wars story

“You’re after something…” says Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke).  Is it the first full trailer for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’? Because here it is!  Unveiled during the latest episode of ‘American Idol’, the new two+ minute clip featuring lots of new footage and some pretty quotable lines of dialogue, including a few twists on classic lines from the original trilogy.

“I’ve got a pretty good feeling about this,” Han (Alden Ehrenreich) mutters during what looks to be a big action sequence that probably won’t go in favor of the band of smugglers.  Of course, Han (Harrison Ford) famously delivered the line, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this’ in ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’.

We also get to see Woody Harrelson’s Tobias Becket recruiting Han to embark on whatever cosmic heist this film ultimately revolves around, warning him that if he joins them, he will be trapped in this life forever.  We also get to see the first meeting between Han and Lando (Donald Glover).

But do you have a good feeling about this?  The production of ‘Solo’ has been publicly plagued with issues.  The original directors Phil Miller and Chris Lord were famously fired early into production and replaced by Ron Howard.  Since then, there have been various “inside sources” that have whispered that Disney has been scrambling to “fix” the movie, because there are major problems with it, including rumors that Alden Ehrenreich isn’t living up to his legendary role.  And fans recoiled at the reveal of a redesigned Millennium Falcon in earlier teasers.
